Our extra-curricular activity (ECA) art program runs in parallel with the school terms each year. Each term is generally 12 weeks long starting in September, January, and April.  While other kids' art classes often tend to steer towards meaningless craft activities, trendy art projects, and "quick fun entertainment," that surpass any form of skill-building, our program focuses on learning the fundamentals of fine art drawing, painting and mixed media techniques.

Through fun and engaging lessons, skill-building exercises and challenging art projects, our classes aim to increase the conscious awareness and knowledge of the basic elements of art and the core principles of art, as well as learning how to properly use art materials. We also incorporate art history and cultural education into many of our lessons, learning about different artists, styles, and global artistic traditions. We believe that these elements and principles provide the foundation that is necessary for improving artistic skills, creating elevated artwork and developing a critical eye.

Our curriculum adheres to the learning goals established by the National Core Art Standards (American).  More info can be found here.

The Elements of Art focuses on the seven fundamental components of visual art: line, shape, form, space, color, value, and texture. These elements provide a foundation for creating art, improving artistic skills, and understanding how to analyze artworks. Students learn about the purpose of each element as a building block for creating impactful, elevated work and for developing a critical eye.

elements of art

The Principles of Art teaches young artists how to organize the elements of art (like line, color, shape) to create composition and convey meaning through the core principles of visual art: balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, unity, variety and proportion. These principles provide a foundation for students to develop more effective compositions and create elevated artworks.

principles of art

Students will learn art techniques, historical context, and art appreciation through projects inspired by famous artists. They will develop practical skills by experimenting with different mediums, and conceptual skills by understanding the artist's style, philosophy, and the historical period in which they worked.

famous artist inspired art

Through art history-inspired projects, students learn to combine historical knowledge with creative expression, developing skills like critical thinking, understanding cultural contexts, and connecting historical artistic styles to their own work.

art history

Students will learn to appreciate and understand different cultures through art, fostering empathy and a sense of global community. They will also develop artistic skills by exploring new materials, techniques, and perspectives from various cultures and time periods. This process encourages creativity while providing insights into diverse traditions, histories, and worldviews.

cultural art traditions

For students who are ready for advanced techniques, we build on foundational knowledge to increase technical skills in drawing and painting. They move beyond structured assignments to tackle larger, more complex projects that will challenge them and help them to explore styles and develop a personal artistic voice.

Yes, we do! However, because spaces and materials in the classroom may be limited, we do ask that you submit a registration form atleast one day prior here.  Just check the "trial" box and the day/time box on the registration form.

01. Do you offer a free trial class?

Yes.  We adapt our lessons and art projects for children with special needs, different age groups, and even for especially talented children, adjusting the complexity and expectations for them.  As we get to know our students each term, and their capabilities, we look to make adjustments to our curriculum where necessary to provide balance with fun, yet challenging projects.

02. Do you differentiate your lessons for special needs or unique children?

frequently asked questions

For our ECA classes all materials will be provided.

For the online classes, you will need basic art supplies on hand (paper, pencils, paint, brushes, etc.) and will be sent a list of things that you likely have on hand or can be easily purchased on Amazon. Estimated cost of materials is approximately 100-150 AED.

For the digital art class, you must have an iPad, Apple Pencil, and purchase the Procreate app (a one-time fee of 50 AED).

03. are materials provided?

In general, fees are non-refundable after the first week of each term. This is due to the advance purchase of materials and then having an open space in class that could have been given to another child.  We have a limited number of spaces available each term.  However, in emergent cases, such as a broken dominant arm, we may be able to offer a credit for use in future terms, on a case-by-case scenario.  For courses that are cancelled for the whole term due to low enrollment (less than 5 students), full refunds will be provided.  In the event, that a single session is cancelled by us or by the school, a make-up class on a different day or an online session will be arranged.

04. are the fees refundable?
